This estimates how well hiring software can parse your resume. No tool can guarantee you pass every ATS — but these are the formatting rules parsers reward.

What makes a resume ATS-friendly?

Single column, always

Multi-column layouts and text boxes scramble the reading order for parsers. One clean column keeps every line in order.

Standard section headings

Use headings parsers expect: Summary, Work Experience, Education, Skills. Creative headings get ignored.

Real text, standard fonts

Your resume must be selectable text in a common font — never an image, and never an exotic typeface.

Mirror the job ad's keywords

Parsers rank resumes by keyword overlap with the posting. Use the exact terms from the ad — our checker above helps.

Simple bullets & dates

Plain bullet characters and clear date ranges (e.g. Jan 2021 – Present) parse far better than graphics or timelines.

No headers, footers, or photos

Many parsers skip header/footer content entirely — contact info hidden there can vanish. Photos add nothing for ATS.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?

Yes — completely. No signup, no trial, no watermark, no "pay to download". The whole app runs in your browser, so there is nothing to charge for.

Can I import my old CV?

Yes. Upload your existing CV as a PDF in the resume builder and SwiftCV will read it and rebuild it in ATS-friendly format. Always review each section after import — automatic parsing is a head start, not magic.

How is the ATS score calculated?

Your score combines three groups — Contact Details, Content, and ATS Format — each graded A to D. It checks for a parseable email and phone, a solid summary, dated experience with bullets, 5+ skills, sensible length, standard headings, and a single-column layout. The Bullet Coach then reviews every bullet for action verbs, numbers, and weak phrasing.

Does this guarantee my resume passes ATS?

No tool can guarantee that — every employer's system is different. What this does is follow every widely-agreed ATS best practice (single column, standard headings, real text, keyword alignment) and score your resume against them, which puts you ahead of most applicants.

Where does my data go?

Nowhere. Everything you type is stored only in your own browser (localStorage). Nothing is uploaded to any server — there isn't even a server. Uploaded PDFs are read locally in your browser too.

How do I get a PDF?

Click "Download PDF" and choose "Save as PDF" in the print dialog. The resume prints as clean, selectable text on A4 — exactly what parsers want.

Can I use this for different jobs?

Yes. Tweak the summary, skills, and bullets to mirror each job ad, then re-run the keyword checker — and generate a matching cover letter for each application.

Is this suitable for jobs in Pakistan?

Yes — ATS rules are the same everywhere: single-column layout, standard headings, real text, and job-ad keywords. One local tip: leave CNIC, religion, marital status, and date of birth off your CV — Pakistani portals and recruiters don't need them, and they can trip up automated parsers.
